Message from Mayor Collesano – July 2011
Tuesday Night Concerts
This summer seems to be on fast forward and already Artpark has completed five free Tuesday night concert performances. You probably have noticed a huge difference with this summer’s traffic, in and out of our village. With the cooperation of not only the Lewiston Police Department but also with the help on behalf of the State Parks Police, NY State Troopers, Niagara County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Border Control Department, there has been a noticeable improvement to our village. Parking and traffic snarls have greatly improved over that of last year.
Each Thursday evening after a Tuesday night concert, a meeting is held in the Mayor’s office in order to discuss Tuesday night’s traffic flow along with village parking. All areas of concern are discussed to the fullest. Should we find a way in which we can tweak a problem area or situation, we do so. The parties involved with this process consist of Artpark personnel, representatives of all police agencies, the Mayor and the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees. Each group has worked together as vital components to the development of a well coordinated plan of enactment.
The Seneca Street exit ramp open for this season’s Tuesday night concerts has been a great success, offering relief to hundreds of vehicle drivers that exit the upper Artpark parking areas. The two exit lanes of traffic from Artpark’s lower parking lot have also contributed to a much improved flow of traffic.
There are seven remaining Tuesday night concerts to be performed. We will work diligently together in seeing that each Tuesday evening, traffic and village moves as smoothly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Mayor Terry Collesano
